In most cases you have the right to choose where you or your child receives treatment or assessment.
If a parent
chooses a provider that accepts the
right to choose referrals and contacts them before contacting the GP they will send the forms
to the parent that they’ll need
to fill in and take
to a GP appointment. This will include a referral letter they’ll need
to send off (there is a copy of one on
https://adhduk.co.uk/right-to-choose/).
This then has to be approved by the ICB (Integrated Care Board) and then the assessment can take place. Each provider has a different wait time. You may need to do a parent interview for your child's assessment.
If your child is currently on the waitlist for assessment through the Portsmouth Neurodiversity Team, you can go down the right to choose path and this will not affect your child's place in the Portsmouth Neurodiversity Team queue.
